Abstract

This study aimed to find out the compatibility between the use of social media and the motivation to achieve among recent graduate students from the modern stage, whose number reached (104) males and females in the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Many recent graduates spend more time browsing multiple social media accounts, due to the limited time they have after finishing their university education, and to search for job opportunities and what will benefit them in their transitional phase from education to work life. However, this use may be a double-edged sword, as it may increase the motivation to achieve among users, or it may increase their frustration due to the abundance of comparisons and information overload.To achieve the study objectives, the researcher followed the descriptive correlational approach. The study relied in its procedures on the social media use scale and the achievement motivation scale. The results showed there is a weak correlation between the level of social media use and motivation to achieve among bachelor’s degree graduates, who is age group of 21 to 26 years. Also, on average, only people who use social media for more than six hours a day excel
